Good, fast, needs auto-reconnect.
PureVPN: fast, IKEv2 encryption, doesnt reconnect automatically, Hong Kong based. Personally I dont like selecting a mode. I would prefer to simply pick the encryption type and server location. Others may prefer modes. Not a deal breaker, but it would be helpful if they described what each mode actually did e.g. Lets you select city, uses IKEv2 encryption etc.
Summary of VPNs:
Primarily I tested these VPNs on a slow 4G cell connection and a fast wifi using an iPad Air 2. iOS turns off VPN when devices go to sleep. In my experience it also disconnects the VPN when the Internet connection is unused for some time. For this reason the automatic reconnection feature is important to me.
IPVanish: too glitchy, web sites often dont load the first time, causes apps to glitch sporadically, some servers function better than others. Speedtest app repeatedly glitched while running iPVanish. Slow on iOS cell and wifi, very fast on PC. Has IKEv2, but I dont use it because it was glitchy, so they recommended IPSec. They also recommended I try other servers. It does reconnect automatically. 6 months into one year subscription, but I dont use it anymore. On PC it works well in limited testing.

TunnelBear: easy set up, reconnects automatically, 75% slower than PureVPN and YyprVPN. You cant select the server city within the U.S. which might explain the slow speed because it connects me to a server on the East Coast though Im testing on the West Coast. Are all of their servers in New York? Company based in Canada.
VyprVPN: fast, easy set up, reconnects automatically, incorporated in Switzerland, app shows the speed of available servers, includes NAT firewall. While it is expensive this is my current favorite.
All VPNs slow data speed so testing reflects how much impact they have.
